Learn how to send your first Thnks in just a few easy steps

Updated today

Sending a Thnks is simple. With our wide selection of thoughtful gestures, you can find the perfect way to show gratitude – from a night off from cooking to a rainy-day Uber.

Let's get started with your first Thnks! In just one minute, you’ll learn how to send your first Thnks. Stick around after for a full how-to!

Step 1: Choose a Thnks

Start by finding the Thnks you want to send. Browse our curated categories or use the search bar to find something specific.

To get a feel for the process, try sending a small gesture like our signature 'Thnks A Latte' in the 'Keep 'em Caffeinated' category. A warm cup of coffee is a simple, thoughtful way to show appreciation.

Depending on the item, you may have customization options to choose from. Make any required selections, then click “Select this Thnks.”

💡 How will I pay for the Thnks? If you (or an Admin) haven’t done so already, you will need to add payment information. You can enter a credit or debit card when you confirm the details of your Thnks.

Step 2: Enter your recipient’s contact information

If you’re sending a Thnks from the web app, enter your recipient’s email address. If you’re sending from the Thnks mobile app, you also have the option to send the Thnks via SMS by entering your recipient’s phone number.

Step 3: Craft your personal message

Next, write a short, thoughtful note to accompany your Thnks. This is an opportunity to connect. Consider what might resonate with your recipient, how you can build rapport with them, or simply make them smile.

Even if you don't know the recipient well yet, consider their location, the weather, current events, or upcoming holidays to send something relevant. Remember, sometimes it’s the small, unexpected gestures of gratitude that make the biggest impression.

Tip: When you’re writing, focus on highlighting the benefit of your recipient’s help, not what it cost them. Instead of "Thank you for your time, I know you're quite busy," consider: "Thank you for your time; I have a much better understanding of the challenges we’re facing." Add your message and click “Continue.”

Step 4: Confirm and send

Finally, review the details of your Thnks. You can see the message your recipient will receive by clicking “Preview your Thnks email.”

If you haven’t already, you will be prompted to verify your account and input payment information. Press “Confirm and Send” and your Thnks is on its way!

Accepting a Thnks is seamless for your recipient – they can simply click a link in their email or SMS. There’s no need to download an app or create a Thnks account. Your recipient will have the option to redeem their Thnks, donate the value to a charity, or re-give the item to someone in their network.
